1. Estructura Legal del negocio 

​

-Creación de una Entidad Comercial : LLC (Proteger ante cualquier demanda o deuda )

Direccion Fiscal :Necesitas una direccion real en EE.UU

-Numero EIN : El Employer  Identification Number es el numero de identidad fiscal de tu empres ante el ISR , vital para abrir cuentas bancarias y pagar impuestos.

2.Permisos y Autoridades Federales(Crucial )

​

Si vas a operar de manera independiente (bajo tu propia autoridad), la FMCSA(Federal Montor Carrier Safety Adiministration ) te exigira:

USDOT Number: Monitorea la seguridad de tu compañia

MC Number (Motor Carrier): Es la autoridad operativa que te permite cruzar lineas estatales (Interstate) y cobrar por transportar carga de terceros.

​

BOC-3 y UCR: El proceso de designacion de agentes de procesamiento y el Registro Unificado de Transportistas (Unified Carrier Registration).

​

IFTA(International Fue Tax Agreement) y Formulario 2290: El reporte trimestral de combustible y el impuesto anual por el uso de autopistas para vehículos pesados.

​

Alternativa (Lease- on) Si no quieres tramintar toda esta burocrcias inicial, puedes comprar el equipo y "afiliarlo" o renta a una empresa de tranporte ya establecida(Carrier). Ellos ponen los permisos y las cargas, y tu te llevas un porcentaje de la ganancia, reduciendo drasticamente tu carga operativa.

3.El Seguro Comercial (El gasto oculto mas alto)

​

El Seguro en EE.UU. para transporte de cargas es obligatorio y costoso. Si estas abriendo una compañía nueva (New Venture), el seguro puede costar entre $15,000 y $25,000 dólares anuales por camion, y te pedirán un enganche inicial de entre el 20% y el 25% de esa póliza. Requerirás  cobertura de :

​

-Primary Liability (Responsabilidad Civil)

-Cargo insúmanse (Seguro de mercancía, usualmente por un mínimo de  $100,000

-Physical Damage  (Daños materiales de trailer /camion).

​

4.Adquisicion del Equipo y Financiamiento 

​

-Costo del Trailer : Un remolque tipo caja seca (Dry Van) o refrigerado (Reefer) usado y en buen estado puede oscilar entre los $30.000 y $50.000 dólares (Un camion usado suma otros  $50.000 dólares (Un camion usado suma otros $50.000 a $90.000).

​

Financiamiento: Si eres un negocio nuevo, los bancos estadounidenses te pediran un down payment(encanche) alto,  buen historial de credito comercial, o un aval. Sie eres inversionista extranjero sin historial crediticio en EE.UU., normalmente deberas comprar el primer equipo de contado.

​

Inspección Mecánica : Antes de comprar, es mandatorio pagar un mecanico certificado e independiente para que realice una inspeccion completa (especialmente del sistema de emisiones kon DPF si compras el camion completo ) y evitar estafas.

​

5.Operacion y Personal 

​

​

A menos que tengas una licencia de conducir comercial (CDL) de EE.UU. y vayas a manejar tu mismo, tú modelo de negocio requerira:

​

-Contratar un Driver : La retención de choferes es uno de los retos mas grandes de la industria. Debes asegurar un salario competitivo.

​

-Estrategia de Carga : Para conseguir trabajo para tu trailer, utilizaras Load Boards (Bbolsas de carga como DAT o Truckstop ), cotrataras un servicio Dispatch (Despachadores que buscan las cargas por ti a cambio de 5%-10% de comisión)o haras contratos directos con las fabricas. 

​

Factoring : Un servicio financiero casi indispensable en esta industria que te adelanta el pago de las facturas de tus cargas (Ya que los clientes suelen pagar a 30,60 o 90 dias ) a cambio de una pequeña comisión (2% al 5%), manteniendo tu flujo de caja saludable.

​

Resumen de Inversion estima (Para iniciar con 1 equipo propio)

Si buscas arrancar de forma solida, se calcula que necesitas un capital de approx. $15,000 para la pura constitución, permisos, enganche del seguro y fondo de maniobra, mas del camion /trailer (ya sea el enganche si financias  o el valor total si compras en efectivo). Asimismo, se aconseja tener un fondo de reserva de al menos $10,000 USD para reparaciones mecánicas de emergencia.

Otros detalles a considerar : 

​

​

1.-El Tipo de  Trailer Define tu Negocio (Márgenes vs Estrés)

Se debe elegir el nicho correcto según la capital y tolerancia al riesgo:

​

-Caja Seca (Dry Van ): Es el mas común y económico de comprar. Transporta ropa, electrónicos, comida no perecedera, etc. Hay muchísima oferta de carga, pero es el que suele pagar tarifas mas bajas por milla . Es ideal para comenzar por su bajo mantenimiento.

​

-Refrigerado (Reefer) :  Transporta comida fresca, congelado o medicinas. Paga mejor que la caja seca, pero el motor del refrigerador consume diesel extra, requiere mantenimiento  constante  y  si el motor se apaga y la carga se daña, el reclamo al seguro puede ser millonario.

​

-Plataforma (Flatbed): Para maquinaria, materiales de construcción o tubos.

Requieres que el chofer sepa asegurar físicamente la carga con cadenas y lonas. Paga muy bien, pero físicamente es muy demandante para el chofer y el riesgo de accidentes por la carga suelta es mayor.

​

2.La Regla de "Eld" y las horas de Servicio (HOS)

En EE.UU., los choferes por Ley Federal, todo camion comercial debe llevar un dispositivo electrónico llamado  ELD (Electronic Logging Device) conectado al motor.

​

* El ELD registra automáticamente los tiempos de manejo.

*Un chofer puede manejar un máximo de 11 hrs. dentro de la ventana de 14 hrs de trabajo, y luego debe descansar obligatoriamente 10 hrs consecutivas.

​

*Impacto en tu negocio : Al hacer tu proyecciones financieras, calcula las ganancias en base a un máximo de 500 a 600 millas recorridas por día pro chofer. No asumas que el camion rodara las 24 hrs. a menos que se contrate un (Team ).

​
